IHG Rewards Club Scores Two New Casino Resort Properties, Introduces New Highest Award Price

The Venetian and Palazzo hotels in Las Vegas are part of IHG Rewards Club, even though they’re separately owned by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation.

Las Vegas Sands has a Macau subsidiary, Sands China Ltd, and two of their properties are now a part of IHG Rewards Club – effective immediately.

What’s crazy is that these properties are pricing at 75,000 points per night — when the previous top price point, covering hotels even in Bora Bora, has been 70,000. And the room rates certainly aren’t the justification for this, so something else is going on — the premium IHG must have paid to bring these properties into the fold, perhaps.

At the Venetian, 75,000 points gets you a “Royale Deluxe Suite One King Bed” which is about 700 square feet, however the room can be purchased at times for $200 so definitely check paid rates and consider using points only when rates are at their highest.

Cotai Central

In addition Sands China is dropping Holiday Inn from the Cotai Central casino complex, which also houses the Sheraton and Conrad. In place of the 1200 room Holiday Inn tower will be a 600 room all suites property known as Londoner Macao. St. Regis Tower Suites will be renamed Londoner Tower Suites.

  1. Hey Gary, the story is not that simple. Check different dates like 12/31/2019, they charge 100K per night.

  2. What difference does it make?

Ambassador benefits not honored and IHG status not recognized. High rates on IHG.com and when compared with 3rd party website, recieved the following answer from IHG social team: “3rd party sites are all net wholesale booking channels. They purchase deeply discounted rates from hotels in order to pass savings onto customers. Often, inventory they buy is pre-paid which give them full control over the rates & terms. ~Anna”

  3. So, they are IHG but are not IHG. They can be IHG when convenient, but can screws IHG loyalty members when convenient. They don’t abide by IHG rules. Vegas offers $35 hotels at the Old Strip, if you aren’t pretentious about sheets and concierge. If you have 75,000 IHG points burning a hole in your pocket, GO TO BORA BORA!
