I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same).
Kourtney Kardashian posted a photo of herself to Instagram carrying a credit card with the tag line, “Do you take Amex?”
While she’s reported to earn six figures for a sponsored instagram post, there are no such disclosures here and lawyers in the financial services industry are pretty persnickety about such things. So I take this to be her go-to card.
Samantha Rosen identifies the card in the photo as either,
- Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express which earns 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%); 2% cash back at U.S. gas stations and at select U.S. department stores; 1% back on other purchases.
- Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express which earns 6% Cash Back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions; 3% on transit including taxis/rideshare, parking, tolls, trains, buses and more; 6% at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1%); and 3% Cash Back at U.S. gas stations.
Both are good enough cash back cards, though she’d probably be better off earning a straight 2% on everything or graduating to really focus on rewards with the very best card for getting started in miles and points the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.
What’s striking through is that she’s not tossing down a hunk of metal like the Amex Black Card, which once even stopped a bullet and saved the life of the cardmember.

And she’s not using a low profile version of the much higher-profile JP Morgan Reserve Card like President Obama was snapped doing at Franklin Barbecue in Austin, Texas (he’s the only person ever to have skipped the line there without using a line sitting service or calling ahead).
