Staying With a Baby at the Park Hyatt in Paris (All the Stuff They Do For You)

I’ve stayed at the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris many, many times. It’s not because it’s the single best hotel in Paris, rather I find it to be a nice hotel that I can book on points and I enjoy the neighborhood. It’s walkable to multiple metro stops, it’s a quiet neighborhood, and there’s good food nearby.

Every time I go our first evening dinner is at L’Ardoise just a few blocks away. The three course prix fixe is a great value at 38 euros for excellent classic French fare, perfect to ease me into the visit since it’s only about a third of a mile away.

As a top tier elite with Hyatt it’s an especially good value,

  • Only once – my first stay – did I have a regular room. Every time since then a suite.

  • Breakfast is amazing, offered in restaurant or via room service (110 euro credit per day for two people)

This would be my second stay without a suite, and it was a bit disappointing because I did want the extra space traveling with our daughter. I had had a suite confirmed but needed to change dates at the last minute, and our stay overlapped one of the Fashion Weeks. They were booked full.

Still the hotel really went above and beyond, I thought, accommodating us with our daughter. I didn’t really know what to expect, since traveling abroad with a baby is still new to me though I’ve done plenty of research.

Everything I’ve read has said not to rely on the quality of crib a hotel might provide, if they can even sort one, so we’ve traveled with one to New York and then we flew with one to Paris. However there was a full sized crib – quite nice – already set up at the foot of our bed when we arrived.

There was also a baby tub in the bath rub in the room, ready to go.

They had set up a changing station in the closet, with a pad covered with a towel, on top of a chest. And there was a bottle warmer beside the coffee machine.

I had not requested any of this. Instead I had simply let my Hyatt concierge know we’d have our 3 month old daughter with us and she passed that on to the hotel. I was impressed.

  1. I stayed here once for the first time last August and it was a disaster stay from the check in… only salvaged after general manager’s apology and an offer to refund 1 night’s worth of points. I am a globalist btw.

the breakfast… I just failed to see what’s so amazing about the breakfast here. The selection was thoroughly disappointing. The service? don’t get me started on that. I had to raise and wave my coffee cup several times just to get my cup refilled. Staffs were just running around trying but clearly they were unorganized or/and under staffed. They lost our bags which were dropped off during check in and promised to be delivered once the room was ready. they were only found and delivered at like 10 pm after couple hours of frantic searching. They were delivered to wrong room. How does that happen? Then out of blue, house keeping staff delivers an iron board in the room when we were out, had a privacy sign on and best of all, we never requested any. My wife was furious that someone entered our room for no reason when we had DOD sign on it. The operations manager and general manager both called and met me at the check out to offer apology but these kind of stuff shouldn’t happen at a hotel like this… this is supposed to be the crown jewel of Hyatt. in comparison, I had far better service and breakfast at my recent stays at PH Siem Reap and PH Bangkok.

  2. Pleased and not surprised at the fine service. tjp74’s very unfortunate experience notwithstanding, the service has been superb the couple of times we’ve stayed there.

  3. This is so fun! I especially like the whale tub. We stayed at Park Hyatt Zurich in December with our baby. The concierge checked with us ahead of time and had an enormous pack of diapers in his size, stocked the fridge with baby food, brought a high chair to the room, and even had a Park Hyatt Zurich “VIP Baby” bib. I was beyond impressed! We’ll be in St. Kitts soon, and I’m hoping for more fun baby amenities!

  4. PH Paris put a baby potty in our bathroom! The infant tub was a nice plus and we turned the shower into a waterpark which was a blast for our 11 month-old.

  5. Was this part of an AUS-LHR-CDG itinerary with just a connection at LHR?

If you’re returning CDG-LHR-AUS and have a stroller, hopefully the CDG agents let you get the stroller back at LHR or hopefully you have an on-body baby carrier available.

Did you get GE for your daughter? Not sure how useful it is for the child at AUS.

  6. What kind of suites have you been getting at this property.

I’ve had a bunch of stays here as Diamond and Globalist and the so-called complimentary “suites” upgrades I’ve gotten have been nothing more than a larger room with a sofa in it, a room that falls far short from being even a one-bedroom suite with separate living room. Calling them even a junior suite would be pushing the limits of truth.

  7. @Gary: Baby/airport tip: Get a sturdy umbrella stroller (recommend McClaren, although I may be out of date) and always take it with you, even if your daughter doesn’t need it. Makes a great luggage cart with free gate check.

  8. Congratulations on the birth of your baby! I stay at the Park Hyatt just about every year and love the ambience and its proximity to the Metro. L’Ardoise is a regular stop, as well. I think their breakfast is great…Glad you had a great time, albiet the non-suite.
