A couple of months ago Citibank changed up their initial bonus offers for American Airlines AAdvantage credit cards. The CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® has a best-ever offer. And now we know when that will end.
Best-Ever 70,000 Mile Business Card Initial Offer Ends October 9
The CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® has the best offer I’m aware of that they’ve ever made for the card, a 70,000 mile initial bonus after spending $4,000 within the first 4 months of account opening. This card has a $0 annual fee the first year (then $99).
The small business card offers first checked bag on domestic American Airlines itineraries. There’s preferred boarding on American flights and 25% savings on American Airlines inflight wifi when you use your card.
It’s now posted that if you’re interested in this offer you need to apply by October 9.
Biggest Offer in a Long Time for Card That Comes With Club Membership
The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ Mastercard® has the best offer I’ve seen in a really long time, 75,000 miles after $7500 spend within the first 3 months of cardmembership.
This $450 annual fee card comes with American Airlines Club membership — and it offers authorized user cards at no additional annual fee. You can have up to 10 authorized user cards, and each gets access to American Airlines clubs as well (and each can bring in up to 2 guests).
American has been investing a lot in its clubs. Several have made-to-order guacamole in the afternoons, and avocado toast in the mornings.
American has been testing new food options in Phoenix, Chicago, and Houston clubs as well.
Of course the real reason I value American’s clubs is for the help their agents give me when flying American. If there’s a delay or a cancellation I find they give me the best help getting rebooked and on my way, working hard to preserve upgrades, and proactively helping to come up with backup options in case I have further trouble.
I have and use this card to help maintain my American AAdvantage Executive Platinum status since $40,000 spend on purchases that post to your account during a calendar year earns 10,000 elite qualifying miles.
50,000 Mile Bonus Offer for Standard Consumer Card
For the past few years the public initial bonus offer on the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® has been 30,000 miles. It’s gone as high as 60,000 miles (a record in recent years) and now it’s 50,000 American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles after making $2,500 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
It has a $0 annual fee the first year, then $99. Cardmembers receive one free checked bag and preferred boarding on American Airlines flights. You also get 10% of your miles back (up to 10,000 rebated per calendar year) when you redeem miles.

Choosing the Right Cards For You
Citibank doesn’t seem to have a hard limit on the number of their cards you can have though of course how much credit they’ll make available for each person will vary. After you apply for one card in my experience they’ll consider another application from you 8 days later, but you can’t apply for more than 2 cards in 65 days.
Generally Citi will give you the bonus on a new card account if you haven’t opened or closed a card in that product’s family in the past 24 months. For this purpose the personal and business cards are separate, it is possible to earn the bonus for both a personal and a small business card.
I signed up for the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® under this 70,000 mile initial offer. I already have the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ Mastercard® so I’m not eligible for the bonus on the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® since those are both personal cards in the same family.
In other words if you do not have a Citibank-issued American AAdvantage card it is possible to get one personal and one small business AAdvantage card.
