A Canadian pilot with a history of bank robberies died in a crash 5 years ago. He was legally drunk when he attempted to land his Cessna 172R in Nashville fog — despite a plan to fly to Pelee Island Airport in Ontario, Canada.
The man, then-45 year old Michael Callan, 45, had undergone a mental health evaluation the year before “a mental health evaluation where it was discovered that he wrote numerous letters to [Taylor] Swift.” The letters had “the flavor of stalking.”

He was the only person on board the plane that “burst into flames on impact” on October 29, 2013. He had circled the airport for two hours before attempting to land at the airport closest to Swift.
A Freedom of Information Act request revealed that he listed Taylor Swift as his emergency contact on his membership application for the Windsor Flying Club, which is where he rented the aircraft.
For the record my emergency contact is Michelle Pfeiffer in The Russia House.
