Coach Passengers Hand Money to Beggar on Qatar Airways Flight

A man onboard a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Shiraz, Iran wouldn’t sit down despite requests from flight attendants — because he was too busy begging.

Passengers even gave the man money as crew told him he was delaying their departure.

Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority insists that the beggar is not Pakistani.

Online commentary seems confounded by someone simultaneously able to afford a plane ticket and needing to beg. After all a homeless man used credit card signup bonuses to stay in hotels. Years ago I recall a FlyerTalk member losing his job and folks pitching in hotel points so he’d have a place to stay. While it may or may not be the case here, traveling is not inconsistent with desperation.
