American’s Regional Flights Melting Down in Charlotte Again

After cancelling 675 flights Thursday and Friday, American’s wholly owned regional carrier PSA is again experiencing problems today.

PSA is a significant presence at American’s Charlotte hub and has a ground stop in place for flights headed there.

American had claimed the ‘technical issue’ was resolved but since they’ve been coy about the details of the issue it’s difficult to evaluate whether what’s happening today is the same thing that flummoxed operations at the end of the week.

  1. Guess I’m glad to be flying UA this weekend.
Hope everyone can get to where they need to go.

  2. Gary – if you can get a straight answer from American that would be great (surprise…).My husband flies thru CLT to and from MHT regularly and it would be nice to know what happened.

  3. My daughter got stuck in this yesterday trying to return from Charleston to DC. The inbound from DC was delayed in 15 to 30 minutes increments for over 7 hours. Staff from PSA would give no information and when my daughter finally asked why they were not making announcements they threatened to call security. PSA said didn’t you read the paper? As in the Charleston newspaper about Thursday. She finally bailed after 9 hours in the airport as it was no clear if once the inbound arrived it would make it back to DC. She ended up renting a car and driving.
What stumps me is there was no information on the AA website other than delay, no info regarding a ground stop on the tracking websites. A call to AA to rebook was answered 5 and a half hours later. It all smells like a work stoppage to me.

  4. Too bad this is still unresolved, Stuck in airport all night with so many other folks. Airlines fault, but no hotel, just a couple of meal vouchers and difficult rebooking to an alternate airport. Hope they get this cleared up!
