TODAY: United Miles for 1.67 Cents Each

I receive compensation for content and many links on this blog. You don’t have to use these links, but I am grateful to you if you do. American Express, Citibank, Chase, Capital One and other banks are advertising partners of this site. Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same).

Through today IHG will sell you points for half a cent each. That’s because of a 100% bonus offer that ends today.

That stacks with a 50% bonus on transfers from IHG to United that runs through the end of the month. With this offer 10,000 IHG points transfer to 3000 United miles instead of the usual 2000.

Since you can buy IHG points at $50 per 10,000 with the bonus offer ending today, that means you can buy batches of 3000 United miles for $50 each or 1.67 cents per mile. That’s a little more than I think the miles are worth, but this will be useful to some nonetheless.

You can also pick up 85,000 points from the new IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card — 80,000 points after $2000 spend within 3 months and 5,000 points after you add your first authorized user and make a purchase in the first three months — the annual fee is $89 and reports are that this card is not subject to ‘5/24‘. It also comes with elite status, an annual complimentary reward night, and fourth night free on redemptions four nights or longer.

Comments

  1. Thanks Gary! 2 questions. 1) How long do transfers from IHG to United take? 2) Do both accounts need to have matching middle names?

  2. There is a 120k points per day limit for IHG transfers to United. What is the upper limit on this transfer bonus from United, and will they provide the bonus for more than one transaction during the month of June? Thank you!
