Two years ago the Los Angeles Barney’s Beanery chain opened in LAX’s terminal 2 by gate 22. The original Barney’s in West Hollywood opened in 1920. So it fits the trend of airports driving to host brands that are local institutions.
The airport location now offers $28 credits per person for Priority Pass cardholders. This credit is not available before 10:30 a.m.. Of course in the mornings the Virgin Atlantic clubhouse is available for Priority Pass guests albeit with limited service.

Here’s the Barney’s menu. Expect appetizers like hot wings, cheese fries and chicken fingers, and entrees like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and Mexican options. It’s basically bar food and they have a full bar. Here are reviews on Yelp.
Terminal 2 hosts Delta and its partners Virgin Atlantic, Aeromexico, and WestJet along with Aer Lingus. Delta operates a bus between its gates in terminals 2, 3, and the Tom Bradley international terminal.
Joining Priority Pass can be transformational for an airport restaurant. But they are selling their food at a discount to Priority Pass.
I don’t know whether the 10:30 a.m. restriction stems from:
- The restaurant being too busy in the mornings that they can’t handle more customers or don’t want to discount
- Virgin’s lounge receiving a commitment for no competition since they have started opening in the mornings just for Priority Pass customers
I suspect it’s the latter.
The above map is not good representation of LAX. In reality, it’s like a huge U shape. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 on one side, then Tom Bradley Terminal (TBT) at the turn and terminals 4-8 are on the opposite side with parking structures in the middle.
We only fly out of LAX for international flights at TBT. The Priority Pass Select card allows for access to KAL lounge but for a limited period of time 12:00 – 20:00 daily. Cardholders are not be admitted to the lounge outside these hours. So if you have an early flight or a late one, you are out of luck. Most preferable flights to Asia are around midnight, so you have to gain access prior to 8 PM. I am not sure if they will evict you at 8 PM or not. Otherwise, with this option, a long walk to the Beanery at Terminal 2.
The Virgin clubhouse is pathetic for priority pass card holders. We were told we had to leave by noon, which was fine as our flight was at 11.
The offerings are poor. Only edible item was bagels. When asked for a cappuccino, was told it was not available for priority pass members.
Everything else was covered with cloth wraps, presumably better stuff for those entitled for the club house.
People running the place did not seem to be club employees.
The experience was so poor, next time we just elected to sit in the terminal.
Alaska lounge in terminal 6, on the other hand, is very welcoming to PC cardholders.
Love the ability to use PP at restaurants. Have used benefit in STL and PDX. In fact, about to hit up lunch at Capers in PDX shortly. As an AA and AS flyer, LAX will be of limited use, but expansion of offerings is always good.
Your probably too young to remember this, but the location in West Hollywood used to have a sign out front that said “no fags allowed.” Maybe it’s not a great idea to promote this chain during Pride?
To David – in addition to that, their food is really crappy – another reason not to patronize them, altho the reason you cite is better justification.
Really interesting question, that sign has been gone for more than 30 years, is that a reason not to patronize the restaurant still? Does it matter that it’s only the same brand, but not run by the same people?
