IHG’s New Gamified ‘Accelerate’ Promotion About to Come Out

The next IHG Rewards Club promotion is up and available for registration.

They’re coming out with ‘Accelerate’ again for stays between May 1 and July 31 you earn even more points. And in some ways it’s my favorite hotel promotion — not as much for its richness as much because it is sort of fun. It’s tough to get a thrill over double points for stays you’re going to make anyway.

Intercontinental Singapore

IHG Rewards Club has moved to ‘gamified’ promotions with different pieces meant to incentivize behavior among members — with the specifics driven by data about your activity so far, like whether you’re a co-brand credit card holder or an elite or which of their brands you stay with.

For instance they’ve had:

Sign up for the new Accelerate and you’ll see the offer you qualify for. Or not. I signed up, I was able to register, but so far they’re having ‘technical difficulties’. I can see what looks to be like a fairly modest offer that should be just over 40,000 points total, though I can’t be sure, right now it says that many nights.

I’m not a frequent guest at IHG hotels like Intercontinental (any longer) or Holiday Inn. I value IHG Rewards Club points at 6/10ths of a cent apiece.

On the other hand others are likely to get much more lucrative offers. And people can likely earn at least twice as many bonus points as I’m being offered.

Are you able to see your offer?

  1. I’m also seeing “technical difficulties.”

Not sure when IHG started requiring your last name as a part of the log-in process, but it’s a welcome security measure.

  2. Consider yourself lucky, I need 43,500 nights. Those extra 1000 may be hard to squeeze in.

  3. @Miles

i’m logging in, cannot see requirement for surname?

just email address, or IHG number, and password.

  4. 43,500 nights as well.

And the technical difficulties appear to extend to not having posted my completion of the current Accelerate offer two weeks ago.

  5. @Tim I don’t think I can duplicate it, but it went down like this: I logged in as normal, then was taken to a different log-in screen which wanted account, PIN and last name. That took me to the Accelerate promotion (with the same 100-years plus of nights needed as others have seen).

  6. @Miles.

would be good to see more extensive password requirements.

i had a recent substantial fraud on my account, fixed by IHG but it took several weeks of a locked account, and the unnecessary anxiety that goes with that.

  7. @ Gary — Pretty cool that you can earn 42,500 free nights. That should cover 116+ years. Time to sell the house!

  8. I got the technical difficulties error both times I registered (once for me, once for my wife). When I immediately went to Account>Offers>Accelerate, the offers came up.

  9. Mine is now up. The number of “nights” (43,500) turned into the number of points I could earn.

This is a pretty easy one, I can take it all with five nights over two stays in the target period.

  10. Maximum 54,800 points offer this time for me. My one-night stay next month will earn 5,500 points, but that’s probably all I’ll manage this time..

  11. Can I double dip with stays for this promotion and previous promotion of accelerate ending 04/30?

    This offer:
