Double Points on All Southwest Flights Through June 13

Southwest appears to be offering double points on all flights through June 13. Registration is required.

Log into your Rapid Rewards account. Then click on the promotions tab.

The terms and conditions don’t suggest this is targeted (‘available only for member receiving this offer’ or similar) but let me know if this doesn’t show up in your account or if you aren’t able to register.

For those of you upset about the new value of Rapid Rewards points this may help offset the 6% increase in Wanna Get Away pricing.

However it’s noteworthy that they’re doing something here that I hate. Double points only apply to bookings made April 6 onward. So if you have travel during the promotion period that you booked farther in advance you don’t get double points.

Airlines want to use these promotions to incentivize additional business, and they don’t want to spend extra to give more points for business they’d get anyway. But that punishes loyal customers who buy Southwest tickets already. And it means that – since Southwest has no change fees – you should look at any already-booked travel for during the promotion period to see if the fare remains the same or is lower and rebook accordingly to earn double points.

Terms and conditions:

Earn Double Rapid Rewards® Points between April 6 and June 13, 2018.

To register for this promotion, you will need to provide your Rapid Rewards account number at the time of registration. If you do not have a Rapid Rewards account number, you may enroll for free. Once you complete the enrollment form, you will be automatically registered for this promotion if all eligibility requirements are met.

Member must register for this promotion between April 6 and June 13, 2018 and registration must be completed prior to commencement of travel. Member’s qualifying flight must be booked through Southwest Airlines® between April 6 to June 13, 2018 for travel between April 6 to June 13, 2018. Member’s flight must be completed between April 6 to June 13, 2018. Member’s Rapid Rewards account number must be entered at the time of booking Member’s qualifying flight to earn double Rapid Rewards points for that flight.

A qualifying flight is a one-way revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections or a round trip revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal. Travel flown prior to registration for this promotion is not eligible for the double points offer.

Rapid Rewards earned points are calculated using base fare. Member will receive 12 bonus points per dollar spent on Business Select® fares, ten bonus points on Anytime fares, and six bonus points per dollar spent on Wanna Get Away® fares. Bonus points are in addition to the standard flight points earned through Rapid Rewards. Bonus points will not count toward A-List, A-List Preferred, or Companion Pass qualification.

Member will receive bonus Rapid Rewards points within four days after completion of entire ticket. Charter flights, group travel, Companion Pass, Southwest Vacation Packages, and reward travel do not qualify for promotion. Valid on Southwest Airlines published scheduled service. Changes made to the itinerary after purchase may eliminate qualification for promotion. This promotion cannot be combined with any another promotion.

  1. I’m less concerned about the wording that it only applies after 4/6 and more concerned about the wording that says the points don’t apply to A-LIst or Companion Pass.

Can’t say I blame them, but it’s disappinting.

  2. I wonder if SWABIZ bookings are included. I would think they would be. Anyway got registered. Great blog post info. Thanks.

  3. So my question is if I purchased a ticket today 4/8/18, a couple hours before I saw that the promotion was going on and it is for travel during the promotional period, will I get double points. I registered and booked post 4/6 and will travel prior to 6/13 but did NOT register before I booked. It is booked through work so I am hesitant to cancel and re-book. This language makes me think I’m ok but I’d love opinions:

  4. My account shows there is a connection error and need to retry. BS card being played one more time. Favorite airline just trying to understand as I have been on website multiple times last 2 weeks and just caught this one.

  5. So I tried to register for this on the App In April and it would not take on the App. I’m now reading the fine print that you had to register before, but was thinking at the time I would just have to opt in before the end of the promo.. did anyone else have this happen on the App. Trying to prove to Southwest I did attempt to opt in before but there was a technical issue
