60,000 Mile Signup Offer for Avianca Visa

The LifeMiles credit cards are promoting a special offer. Avianca’s LifeMiles is a Star Alliance frequent flyer program, you can use the miles on United, Lufthansa and more.

The website shows offers of 20,000 and 30,000 mile signup bonuses. However with promo code LM17WB those become 40,000 and 60,000 mile offers instead.

There’s no minimum spend requirement, bonuses are awarded after one purchase. The offer is supposed to be valid through May 31.

Since LifeMiles regularly sells miles for about 1.4 cents (and they’re worth at least that much) I value the Avianca Vuela Visa Card’s 60,000 mile offer at $840 minus it’s $149 annual fee or $691 net.

Interestingly each $12,000 spent on the card earns a 50% discount on an economy award between the US and Central America.

Comments

  1. From offer details on the lifemilescreditcard.com website is the following statement: “Must have earned LifeMiles from flying Avianca Airlines or an airline included in the Avianca partner network or have been a previous LifeMiles credit cardholder to apply. ” I gather that means that if I’m not already enrolled (and have a mile or two) in the program, I can’t apply. Bummer.

  2. Gary, will purchasing LifeMiles with this card net additional bonus points? i.e., Does Avianca process their own mileage purchases, or use an outside vendor such as points.com?

  3. @will ‘s comment may explain why I got a “cannot process further as cannot verify personal information”. Maybe they can’t verify any flights as I never credited a flight to their program. My personal info hasn’t changed of course.
