1750 Rapid Rewards Points Worth $24.50 for $35 Flower Order

A couple of days ago I wrote about the great mileage offers on flowers that abound around Valentine’s Day. There are 30 miles per dollar offers with United, Delta, American, and Hawaiian.

I noted at the time that you could get a flat 1000 Rapid Rewards points for spending $29.99 or more (plus shipping) at 1-800-Flowers. And that’s pretty good for Southwest.

However there’s a new even better offer out of 1750 Rapid Rewards points for spending $34.99 or more (plus shipping) from 1-800-Flowers with promo code SW46.

You’re still not going to buy flowers just for the points. 1750 points are worth $24.50. And with shipping and handling your total spend will be higher. Don’t expect to earn a companion pass from this promotion alone, you can earn this bonus a maximum of 5 times.

For more expensive flowers purchases 30 miles per dollar with other programs will work out better. But for purchases closer to the minimum required spend this is a great deal.

  1. Maybe your luck is better, but I have always experienced trouble actually getting miles from 800flowers promos. I always ended up having to follow up several times. And then they say go to the airline and then it’s a hassle to prove everything to them. Between the time spent and the two I never did get I decided it just wasn’t worth it gave up on them.

Others may fare better, but I’m done with 800 flowers

  2. A few points.
    1. The 5 times limitation is not relevant to whether you can earn a Companion Pass with this promotion — the terms clearly state these miles don’t count toward the Companion Pass
    2. On the shipping question, if you are going to do a few of these it’s worth it to buy the Celebrations Passport, which will give you free shipping for the year for a cost of $20 (it’s usually $30)
    3. Many Amex cards have a promotion of “spend $50 on one or more 1-800-Flowers purchases and get $15 off”
