I receive compensation for many links on this blog. You don’t have to use these links, but I am grateful to you if you do. American Express, Citibank, Chase, Capital One and other banks are advertising partners of this site. Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same).
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® has a fantastic signup bonus (50,000 points after $4000 spend within 3 months), valuable points (that are worth 1.5 cents apiece towards travel or transfer 1:1 into various airlines and hotel programs), earn quickly (triple points on travel and dining) and comes with great benefit (the most generous Priority Pass Select for airport lounge access).
But there are myriad benefits that go more or less unnoticed, including several that are included with the card as a Visa Infinite product. There are only a handful of other Visa Infinite cards issued in the United States. One of those benefits is discounted golf.
Citibank used to offer a free golf benefit with its premium Prestige Card but that was eliminated along with several other key benefits last year.
You have to enter your card number to validate eligibility then you’ll be able to see details of the program.
Here are the benefits:
- Ability to reserve tee times at participating Troon Privé private clubs at a rate of $99 (+ Tax where applicable) per player per round.
- Cardholders may bring up to three guests at the same rate
- Can reserve each each course up to two times per year at this rate
- Receive Silver status in the Troon Rewards program. (Existing Troon Rewards members who have already attained Silver status or higher will be upgraded to the next membership level.) With the Silver, Gold, and Platinum membership levels, the cardholder receives a 10%, 15% and 20% discount respectively on eligible golf fees or merchandise purchases.

Fees may normally run $200 – $300 per person, so the ability to book at $99 is a great discount. It’s not free but it’s real savings multiplied out across a foursome and used throughout the year.
Not every Visa Infinite-offered benefit is a benefit of every Visa Infinite product. Points Miles and More reports that this works with the Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card as well. Note that Visa Signature cardholders can get Silver status but not the $99 rounds benefit.
