President Trump Claims Credit for Planes Landing Safely in 2017

Kim Jong Un is known as “Dear Leader, who is a perfect incarnation of the appearance that a leader should have,” “Symbol of the Fatherland’s Unification” and “Ever-Victorious, Iron-Willed Commander” among many other honorifics.

He was a child prodigy who could drive at age 3. At age 9 he raced the Chief Executive of a foreign yacht company and “overcame the odds to claim victory.” There’s no such thing as evolution, merely species that Chuck Norris Kim Jong Un allows to live.

Donald Trump calls Kim Jong Un “Rocket Man” but even North Korean dictator doesn’t claim credit for worldwide air travel safety.

If he is responsible for worldwide aviation safety, the claim that no commercial jet aircraft lost any lives in a crash in 2017, then he must also be responsible for this past weekend’s Nature Air crash that killed two American families?

Commercial air safety has consistently improved for the past 35 years, but Trump has been in office just one year.

The last crash of a US commercial airline with fatalities was Colgan Air 3407 from Newark to Buffalo in 2009. That was a Q400 turboprop. The last major commercial jet crash with fatalities by a US airline that I can recall was American Airlines from New York JFK to Santo Domingo in November 2001.

Oddly though his primary air travel safety initiative — spinning off air traffic control into an independent non-profit corporation, separating out regulation from the actual provision of air traffic services, an ICAO best practice the US currently fails to follow — failed to gain traction in 2017.’

  1. By what stretch of imagination did Trump claim to be responsible for WORLDWIDE safety?

And the only way to say things have consistently improved for 35 years is to ignore the thousands of deaths visited upon us by Islamists on 9/11 through multiple breaches of airline security.

  2. Is there a reason you don’t consider the Asiana crash at SFO in 2013 as a “commercial airline crash with fatalities in the US”?

  3. Trump should stick to golf, money laundering and colluding with the Russians. He seems better suited for that.

  4. ‘By what stretch of imagination did Trump claim to be responsible for WORLDWIDE safety?’

Well, he said ‘Commercial Airline safety’, which goes beyond the US (unless you think airlines operate only in the US). Beyond that, of course, even claiming credit for lack of commercial US crashes is risible (to those possessing a double digit and more IQ).

I still find it amusing that acolytes of the Great Leader try and defend his statements by nitpicking rather than admitting their idol is a narcisstic egomaniac.

  5. Yeah, what about the Asiana crash in SFO? Three died in that crash at SFO in the United States. You should always check your news sources.

  6. He did not take credit for it, he was merely stating a fact. Jeesh snowflakes, come on!!

  7. @JohnC – they didn’t die from the crash itself, though. there’s some dispute, whether the two that died on the tarmac were run over by emergency vehicles or just thrown from the aircraft while not wearing their seatbelts. One passenger died some time later in the hospital from injuries associated with being thrown (not wearing seatbelt).

That said, Asiana isn’t a US airline there have been a number of accidents around the world in recent years (albeit fewer than there used to be)

  8. Like other countries run by tin-horn autocrats, many in the U. S. are so desperate they accept or ignore all of his lies. Trump cares not about truth and accuracy.

  9. Re SFO crash: There was only one young woman who may have been run over by a fire truck. In any event, one passenger who was wearing a seatbelt and remained in the plane was killed. How that death could be considered due to anything other than the crash and somehow excluded from accident statistics is beyond belief.

  10. It’s neither here nor there because doesn’t affect the point I’m making. No US commercial airline crashes since 2009, no jets since 2001, Asiana is not a US airline.

  11. Let’s look at facts not twitter… highest stock market in history, consumer confidence at 16 yr high, pushed for congressional tax cut that will give 80+% more money in their bank acct., gutted Obama regulations, ended war on coal, reduced illegal immigration, crushing ISIS, showing rogue regimes like Iran and S. Korea we have a spine now, improved veterans affairs, lowest unemployment in 16+ years. Get used to him winning and OUR COUNTRY WINNING AS A RESULT…. WHICH IS GOOD FOR EVERYONE!! IF YOU’RE AMERICAN YOU TAKE PRIDE IN OUR SUCCESS…. IF YOU’RE A CYNIC THEN YOU FIND FAULT IN THINGS THAT ARE GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY… EVEN LITTLE THINGS LIKE IMPROVED AIR SAFETY!

  12. USA forgot to give Trump credit for empowering the KKK and other White Supremacists, the sexual molestation of women and an anti gay hatred. If u hate people of color you just love Donald Trump, a bigot’s ideal president. Yes, bigot love him
