Sneak Pre-Opening Photos Inside the American Airlines LAX Flagship Lounge

American Airlines has re-opened its terminal 4 Admirals Club. The Admirals Club is where the smaller first class lounge used to be, and the old larger Flagship Lounge has been renovated to become the new Flagship Lounge that will:

  • Be open to business and first class passengers flying internationally and non-stop to New York JFK
  • Be open to American’s Platinum and above elites flying internationally as well as ConciergeKey members flying domestically regardless of class of service.
  • Be open to oneworld partner mid-tier elites and higher both domestically and internationally.

This new lounge gets the larger space because it will clear out many of the passengers who used to use the Admirals Club, leaving behind only accessing via memberships or day passes. At New York JFK the main terminal 8 Admirals Club has become a ghost town compared to the busy Flagship Lounge. So the larger space makes sense. (I’m increasingly thinking that the whole ‘Flagship Lounge’ project is an elaborate way to avoid investing in food for those customers merely paying for an annual membership.)

The first new Flagship Lounge to open with the broader access rules was New York JFK. The Ma href=”http://viewfromthewing.com/2017/09/13/americans-brand-new-chicago-ohare-business-class-lounge-opens-thursday-heres-whats-inside/” target=_blank>second was Chicago and the third Miami. And in a couple of weeks it seems we’ll have the new Flagship Lounge in Los Angeles come online — even as United has struggled to open a second Polaris business class lounge.

JonNYC has photos of the new LAX Flagship Lounge and says the facility will open December 13th:

The new lounge looks quite gorgeous.

LAX will also feature Flagship Dining for American’s same day international and New York JFK first class passengers only, a sit down restaurant-style concept that’s a hit in both New York and Miami so far.
