I’m the most boring person ever in a hotel room. I arrive and wash up. Then I plug in my devices, unpack shirts and jackets that may have wrinkled a bit in my bag so they can hang overnight. I may need to go out right away, order in food to eat from a local delivery service while I work, or just crash straight away. No one would pay to see that.
Now, they say that hotel sex is better sex.
And maybe that’s what Hyatt Regency was getting at two years ago when they unveiled the slogan ‘it’s good not to be home’.
Plus I suppose there are some hotels with rooms that are spectacles unto themselves.
Still I can’t imagine anyone would pay to stay in — or pay to watch — a hotel room with live webcams.
Someone’s got the idea of luring guests into rooms where they can be watched with the chance that their stay will be free. They think they can generate room revenue and sell access to the feed of the rooms. Could this be the next big thing?
The idea is quite simple. All hotel rooms will be covered by a system of HD webcams, streaming live on a 24/7 basis, so every subscriber might be able to catch-up with what is happening at anytime, on any room. If you come to the hotel, you will experience and enjoy an affordable 5-Stars Luxury Service, that will make you completely forget that some cameras are ON. Or you may opt to stay at home, simply choosing which room will you watch tonight… this is the REAL REALITY SHOW TO SEE!
They’re looking to raise 2.5 million euros in crowdfunding for the project. And as I write this they’ve raised exactly zero. Gee, I wonder why.
Could this be the next big thing?
No.
Nice to see that Vince Vaughn’s turd of a movie “Unfinished Business” inspired someone.
Yes, I’m still bitter about wasting $8 to see it in the theater.
Screw discounts … at a minimum, it should be comped stay!
No wonder they didn’t raise any money – think about how we spend our days (in homes AND hotels)… it wouldn’t be that riveting anyway 🙂 I’m sure they’re hoping to become some sort of “porn-tel,” but serial exhibitionists and voyeurs will lean toward cam-girling vs. doing this.
The world is on such a downward spiral. There will be so many people jumping on this and acting as trashy as possible to get their 15 minutes of fame. This is, I guess, inspired marketing, but really – where has the dignity gone in this world.
Must be Gay Talese’s next story for the New Yorker. Has The New Yorker Gone Too Far??
