The ACLU obtained documents meant to support the TSA’s ‘behavioral detection’ program and discovered there was no science behind it.
What there was, though, was a mish mash of documents like this presentation on identifying suicide bombers (.pdf).
The presentation originated with the Long Beach Police Department and walks through the history of suicide attacks…
And it offers a 10 question pre-test to help profile suicide bombers. The answer to every question is, “D. Male Muslim extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.”
The conclusion offered is that attackers are most likely to be “Male Muslim extremists between the ages of 17 and 40” but not to let your guard down against other Muslim extremists since females can be suicide bombers too.
In fact, Senator Robert Kennedy was killed by Sirhan Sirhan who was not Muslim. And as the ACLA points out, the majority of terrorist attacks in the U.S. have been committed by non-Muslims. But we know who they’re being taught to profile.
Here they ask you to guess which of these is a suicide bomber?
It’s not clear how the TSA was using this presentation but it was considered material that was part of the training supporting their behavior detection program, provided in response to the ACLU request.
