Doha Airport Has a Theme Song and Music Video — But It Doesn’t Come Close to Munich’s

Doha’s still-new Hamad International Airport is over the top in many ways. For instance there’s the giant Teddy Bear sculpture. It’s made out of bronze, is 23 feet tall, and weighs nearly 20 tons. A member of the Qatari royal family apparently purchased it for about $6.8 million. It had previously been displayed in front of the Seagram’s Building on Park Avenue in New York. There’s now a big clay sculpture there.

And there’s the first class lounge that looks like a museum, that is a museum with pieces on display from the Museum of Islamic Art.

Now Hamad International Airport has a theme song. (HT: Points from the Pacific)

The anthem, called The Beginning, is the result of a collaboration between local singer-songwriter Dana Alfardan and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO).

I don’t think this compares to the runway fashion show at Helsinki airport, as part of their “Match Made in HEL” campaign.

And it doesn’t come close to the entire Munich airport turning into a lip sync music video. This is awesome.

  2. @Mike Frank. Da fuck is “Mohammed Airport”? No wonder you had a problem buying a postcard in your make believe airport..

  3. My bad r- i thought hamad was abbreviation for mohammed ,like mike is short for michael.Doesn’t change the fact that 1) airport is beautiful,2) still wasn’t able to buy a postcard or stamp there which i find rare for an international airport.I thought gary might give me some insight the next time i am there as Qatar air sometimes runs good sales to bkk from mia.
