So This is Embarrassing — Trying to Give Away 3 Nights With Club Access at a Favorite Hotel

Kuala Lumpur is one of my favorite cities in the world. It’s probably my favorite food city, from satay to prawn mee to amazing roti. It’s an interesting city with good food — probably the most decadent breakfast buffets in the world — and some of the best deals on luxury accommodations.

My favorite place to stay there is the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. I first stayed there after it opened in 2012.

I’ve been back, and it’s only gotten better. It’s one of the top hotels in the city, has perhaps my favorite club lounge breakfast, and has fantastic views of the Petronas Towers.

It’s a TripAdvisor 2016 Travelers Choice award winner and the #1 ranked hotel in Kuala Lumpur. I’ve seen very few properties with reviews this good.

And I ran a giveaway of three nights there, in an upgraded room with club lounge access, thanks to Luxury Travel Diary.

Luxury Travel Diary is a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK that has a bunch of travel auctions with real bargains.

As I’ve said before, folks who already know about these auctions don’t like this added attention, because there don’t seem to be enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go way too cheap.

Luxury Travel Diary wanted to highlight some of their deals, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 3 night hotel stay at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.

3 nights stay in a Club Twin Towers View Room that is inclusive of club benefits and access to our dedicated Grand Club Lounge which offers daily continental breakfast, all-day light refreshments as well as evening canapes and cocktails.

A funny thing happened on the way to giving away this stay.

I drew a winner. I emailed the winner. I posted about the results. I emailed the winner again. I gave them a deadline to respond. I followed up a third time. I never heard back.

So I drew a new winner.

Thanks to Random.org the winner is comment 321.

For avoidance of doubt, I have no affiliation with Luxury Travel Diary or Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. I am not getting anything in exchange for running this giveaway other than an opportunity to share the place with readers.

Eric has a great trip to look forward to!

Comments

  1. I’ve won an auction on Lux Travel Diary and had nothing but issues dealing with them.

  2. I was on the fence about staying there or using Hilton points. Your great comments have convinced me to go ahead and try for a Diamond Suite upgrade from my status match.

  3. How do we know who comment 321 is? Did you send him an e-mail? I’d love to win something like this.

  4. Folks, it’s too late to win. Read the post and you’ll see the new winner is comment 321, whose name is apparently Eric. If that’s not your name and you did not receive an email announcing that you’re the winner, you can of course still take a wonderful trip to KL and use your various loyalty/ff points to pay for it.
