United Flight Delayed Because Pilot Had Never Seen the Movie Airplane!

United’s 6am flight from Albanyu to Newark — a 41 minute flight — was delayed two hours when, ten minutes prior to departure, one passenger said the word “bomb” to another passenger.

“He uttered the words bomb to another passenger” who alerted the flight crew, Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said.

The pilot immediately ordered all passengers and the crew off of the plane. “The pilot did what he was trained to do,” the sheriff said.

Police dogs were called in to search the plane and luggage and the The FBI anti-terrorism task force was called in, a situation the sheriff described as routine for such an incident. No bomb was found.

All passengers and luggage from the CommutAir Dash-8 were re-screened.

  1. If you click the link it says he was sent for a mental health evaluation. The reality here is that the guy was crazy and the pilot had to take these precautions. Its not like someone the word bomb in passing conversation and they forced everyone off the plane. The passenger was having some sort of mental issue.

  2. Looks like the Airplane security was staffed at levels the TSA can only dream of…6 uniforms popped out of nowhere to apprehend Fred!

  3. Are these last two posts “thought leadership” or just ways to get on Twitter feeds? Just checking.
