These 747s and A380s are Really Perfectly Detailed Giant Toy Models

Building your own working model aircraft — not unlike you did as a kid — is a hobby some people take into adulthood. Only some people are better at it than you were.

This incredible aircraft is modelled after the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet and pretty much mimics it in every way, except it’s at 1/13 scale. Which makes it a very enormous model aeroplane! Its wingspan is 5m wide, its nearly 5m long, and it weighs about 68kg. Built by Adi Pitz, it’s pretty damn incredible. It sounds like the real thing. It takes off, lands, and flies like the real thing. And from far away, it really does look like the real thing.

Someone built an amazing Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 model that flies.

Singapore Airlines itself commissioned their own model Airbus A380. Using Manila envelopes. And the seats inside even move.

But perhaps the single most amazing is building an entire working model airport.
