Marriott’s MegaBonus ‘Two Stays Earns a Free Night’ Promotion Returns Tomorrow

Marriott will bring back its MegaBonus promotion tomorrow.

This is usually, for most members, ‘two stays earns a free night’ which:

  • Can be earned up to two times
  • And redeemed for stays at any participating Marriott property up to category 4.

Some people get targeted for redemptions up to category 5. Others get targeted for bonus point offers.

Bonus point offers may be something like:

  • Stay 25 nights during the promotion period and earn 45,000 points
  • Stay 20 nights during the promotion period and earn 35,000 points
  • Earn double points after your second stay up to 25,000 points

Especially for elite members, Marriott has in the past been willing to switch members on request to an offer other than what they were targeted for but their willingness to do so varies.

You’ll be able to check your offer on Marriott’s promotion page (sign in required) starting tomorrow.

Registration will run through November 15, and stays between September 15 and November 15 will count towards promotional earning.

Marriott is also offering up to 15,000 bonus United miles for stays in Hawaii but always compare the rate attached to that offer with the best rate you’d otherwise pay.

  1. According to the official post on FT, the registration period is August 13 and November 15, but the stay period is September 15, 2014 and January 15, 2015.

  2. If you get the cert offer, call and beg to be switched to points. Certs are nearly useless now that so many properties are inflated to Cat5 and above.

I’ve got a Cat5 cert sitting in my account which will probably expire. Nearly every place I travel the convenient locations moved up to 6 last year and I’m not going to book a cat5 Fairfield out in an Industrial Park somewhere just so I can use the certificate.

  3. @Vicente – imagine how much worse it would’ve been with Cat4 certs!

During the last promo, I had them switch me from earning 4 Cat 4 certs to 3 Cat 5 certs. Cat 5’s came in handy during our family vacation to Orlando 🙂

  4. I’ve been able to make ok use of cat 5 certificates, but cat 6 would be way preferable. Its about time for Marriott to inflate the Megabonus.

  5. Cat4 certs are worthless to me – can’t use Cat5 either thanks to devaluation. I will take double points any day.

  6. Mine states “Earn 2,500 bonus points with every paid stay, starting with your second stay, up to 25,000 bonus points.” I personally would have taken the certs.
