I’ve Decided to Ban All of My Commenters for Two Days

Or at least BoardingArea is doing that.

Well, not exactly. The site is migrating over to a new server starting at 4am Eastern on Friday morning. And during that time I won’t be able to post, and you won’t be able to comment.

The good news is that the move is supposed to solve some of the technical problems that folks have experienced on and off the past few months.

The bad news is that I will miss you all for the 48 hours or so that this process takes. (The site will be up, you can read all you like, but no new posts or comments from Friday morning through early Sunday.)

Don’t worry though, because I’ll be back with a vengeance. And I know you will be too, at least judging from recent comments about hotel loyalty program devaluations announced in February!

And in the meantime if you’re bored without new View from the Wing posts until Sunday morning, check out Lucky’s take on the move to new servers. It was funnier than mine.

  1. Can they also fix the fact that these seemingly uncluttered web pages impose a huge processing load on my old PC? Are all the scripts it kicks off really necessary?

There are very few sites that bog the processor as badly as boardingarea when I open a tab. Only southwest.com is noticeably worse. I’ve added some filters to AdBlock Plus to help a little, but it would be great if someone would get to the root of the performance problem and fix it.

As a protest I’ve decided to suspend posting here for two days. 🙂

  2. can you provide your email address so we can just send harsh jabs and berate you directly while the comments section is down?

  3. You clearly misunderstood what is happening. BoardingArea wisely decided to ban all of your POSTS for two days.
