40% Off at Sofitel and Instant Top Tier Platinum Status

Sofitel is running a 40% off flash sale for bookings made by October 21st stays between December 1st, 2012 and March 31st, 2013. The rates are pre-paid, non-refundable and take 40% off of the “Premium rate (or the Best Flexible Rate for hotels that do not have the Premium rate.”

The full list of participating hotels, blackout dates, and restrictions (such as 3-night minimum stay) is here (.pdf)

Sofitel is part of Le Club Accorhotels, and currently — as happens with some frequency — there is a signup link which yields instant top-tier Platinum status.

Note that the signup page is just a signup page, no indication on that page that accounts will start at the Platinum level, but indeed it’s currently working.

As I explained the last time there was a similar offer of instant platinum, this is marketed to a specific group, I’m not sure which one, but anyone should be able to use the link and keep the status.

At some point soon the link will stop awarding Platinum status and there won’t be any advance warning, but for now it’s working. These offers seem to pop up every couple of months or so. Sometimes more often than that.

Even if you don’t frequently stay at Sofitel, Novotel, Pullman, Mercure, and other related properties frequently, you never know when you might find yourself in one and having top tier status can’t hurt.

Platinum status usually requires 60 nights or 25,000 points earned. It offers double points and at Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery hotels a complimentary drink and welcome gift, and subject to availability and on request 4pm late checkout and an upgrade.

They’ll only let you sign up for one account per email address, so if opening a new account use a new email address. Some then combine their old and new accounts to preserve their points while elevating themselves to the new status.

The program isn’t among the more rewarding, but given that it’s top tier it can also be useful for status matching to other hotel programs. A status match offer like Best Western generally has can be obtained without demonstrated stay activity attached to the top tier elite account.

  1. Other than Best Western, do other programs offer status match to platinum LeClub? I’d love to hear if others have had success. Thanks.

  2. I just signed up and appear to have not received Platinum, my card type says “Le Club Accorhotels Loyalty Classic”.

  3. I was about to do this and then I logged into my account–it says PLATINUM!..I guess I got it from last time and forgot….now time to match it with Best Western. Thanks GARY!

  4. I keep getting “Incorrect information.” whenever I try to accept the terms. not worth chasing this any farther for me

  5. got platinum! Seemed to just show up. As original post says, no mention of it until you’re done.

  6. Sign up link worked for me as of 2:40PM EST. It’s showing Loyalty Platinum immediately. Thanks Gary.

Any idea when the elite status expires?

  7. Platinum status works! Thanks Gary. But I am not finding the 40% discount applicable on Sofitel in LA and SF in month of Feb. It gives a message “Specific rates are not available for the type of room selected. We can offer you the following rates:”. There is no promo code in the designated field which is usually automatically populated when clicking such links. Can we manually feed the promo code, if anybody knows it at all?

  8. I was trying to reserve via the form in the side bar which did not apply the promo code. But by clicking the North America link below, I was able to get the promo code “SOFPS”. But unfortunately again not able to get a 40% discount. The message now says “1 Sofitel hotel is available on the requested dates for this destination, but does not match your specific rates.”. And I am sure that the dates are not blacked out as per the pdf list.

  9. Thanks for the Platinum! My wife and I will appreciate it.

Club Carlson status matched both of us to Gold last year, it took two emails for me and one for her. Hope to do the same when that runs out early next year.

  10. Thank you for the heads-up! I have a stay booked in Sofitel Miami during Thanksgiving. Hoping that this status will help me in some way. 🙂

  11. @Ike & Deal Mommy, I have just signed up for platinum Accor status. But naturally I don’t have any points with this status. I do have points with Club Carlson. Can I get a status match with Club Carlson? How should I go about it? Thanks.

  12. Thanks. What an awful form. Companies stll cannot handle user input easily? First it did not like hyphens in the phone number then I kept getting illegal character in the code field. Forgive me for using a capitol letter instead of lower case. Geez.

  13. @GAGAN: You can fax a copy of your Accor status email or account to 402-501-9166 or email it to: clubcarlson@carlsonrezidor.com and request a status match. They match top tier to their Gold and Middle-tier to their silver. If they send an email back saying they don’t match to Accor just send it again.

  14. I tried for the instant top tier but a message popped up right after I entered my email address “promo code given is no longer usable”. I did not proceed… Shud I? Anyone had the same experience?

  15. Thanks for posting this link. I used a link in the past and was able to gain status with Club Carlson – Gold, Best Western – Diamond, Marriott – Platinum, and Priority Club – Platinum. Sometimes you need to be persistent with your request though and wait until you get the response you want.

  16. I had applied for a status match with Club Carlson after getting Platinum with Accor through the link provided on this post. And they have upgraded me to Gold Elite! Yipee! I already have few stays coming up with them, so it should help. Thanks Gary, Ike & Deal Mommy.

  17. No dates available for Sofitel Rio de Janeiro, I mean NONE. Whats the point of doing a promo like that if there is no dates available at the hotel?
