Aeroplan is offering bonus points for transfers from hotel programs, car rental programs, and points.com through September 9. Registration required.
The total points you transfer in during the promotion period determines your bonus:
- 5000 Aeroplan miles = 1000 bonus miles
- 10,000 Aeroplan miles = 2000 bonus miles
- 20,000 Aeroplan miles = 4000 bonus miles
- 50,000 Aeroplan miles = 10,000 bonus miles
Bonus miles post 7-10 days after reaching the required threshold.
Under this promotion 40,000 Starwood points yield 60,000 Aeroplan miles. Good, but not quite good enough in most cases since Aeroplan gutted their reward chart and began adding fuel surcharges to most partner awards.
Still doesn’t include AMEX MR either so it’s pointless.

Can’t you register you MR account on points.com and do the transfer that way?
Actually, it could be somewhat good with Starpoints (if people are not planning on using them for hotel stays) since 40,000 Starpoints under this promo would equal 75,000 Aeroplan miles (because of the 5,000 bonus miles for every 20,000). Does that sound right or am I missing something?
Doh, to the above comment! I completely forgot that it is a max of 10K! 🙂 Guess I need to remember those things.
You used to get a 5K bonus for 20K mile transfers. Besides, since Aeroplan pesos have been so de-valued (gutting of award chart, fuel scam charges on partner airlines) I doubt a lot of people will take advantage of this – much better FF programs out there to transfer into.
@Harvey – will that work? I can’t find any details on Points.com about MR -> Aeroplan transfers…
North Asia to Thailand for 20/30/40 and about $300 in YQ still is a pretty killer deal.
