$200 SniqueAway Hotel Credit Giveaway

SniqueAway is a new-ish site for discount hotel bookings. I don’t even know how long it’s been around, I’ve been vaguely aware of it for months but never took a closer look. I got an email from one of their PR folks wondering if I’d try it out if they gave me a $200 credit to use. Well, I haven’t done that, and I suggested we do a giveaway of a $200 credit here.

If you sign up using my referral link I’ll get a $25 credit should you wind up also making a booking through the site. I’m giving away the $200 credit offered, but I’d just assume that someone wind up with the referral credits. I’ll bear no malice if you use someone else’s referral link, I’d just hate to see the $25 go to waste and not wind up with anyone.

My basic takeaway on the site is that it’s one for the arsenal. It’s useful. They do limited-time sales on a limited selection of properties. They have some good prices, and I like that there are some more upscale properties than many of the discounters usually focus on. But the limited offerings mean that more often than not they won’t suit my needs.

The deals don’t strike me as generally good enough to spark incremental trips on their own. Good deals, not so great as to make a trip that I otherwise wouldn’t do, so a site I’d love to use when there are hotels that match my plans which there haven’t been yet.

Put a different way, it’s a site I will check but it’s a long shot that the place I need to stay will happen to be what they’re offering on the given day I go to book it. When there’s a match I’ll be glad for it, but likely there won’t usually be a match.

Right now they’ve got a Kimpton property in Manhattan for $199+tax per night. That’s a good savings, you take better than a third off the price or thereabouts and get to (1) pick your property and (2) get a nice property out of the deal. There are only a handful of days available in October and a couple in November and December at that price, though they have some nights at $225 as well. The offer is running for a week.

There are also hotels in Toronto, Mexico City, West Hollywood, San Diego, Spokane, and a handful of others including a few international properties as well.

So here’s what we’re going to do.

  • You need to be registered with SniqueAway, of course, since the prize is a $200 credit for use on the site.

  • And then leave a comment here on this post: what destination that they’re currently offering would you most want to use your credit at?

Only one entry per person, yes I will check, and the contest will run through Monday, October 10 at 12:00pm Eastern. I’ll draw the winner at random using Random.org’s number generator, then match it up to make sure that the entry is valid.

Meanwhile, also worth noting that through October 7 they’re running a sweepstakes to give away $500 in credit for use on hotels through the site and also a $500 credit with wine site Lot18.com. The wine credit is equally appealing to me…

  5. Do you know if any of the brands sold through Snique-away credit points? I couldn’t find anything on their website, which means probably not.
