Though I don’t know whether the promo code will mitigate miles earned through a shopping portal, Continental offers 3 miles per dollar through their shopping portal, and through tomorrow Continental Mastercard holders still receive double miles for such purchases.
Of course, hurry anyway if interested, I don’t expect this deal to last. The bag actually does retail for $495. I don’t have an opinion as to its quality, but it’s as cheap as I’ve ever seen a Tumi carryon. Personally I think that Tumi has slipped a great deal over the past 5+ years, and it isn’t worth the full retail price, it commands it based on past reputation in my view.
Still, if you’re looking for a Tumi rollaboard it’s hard to imagine you’ll find one for less.
Also, if you use your bloomingdales credit card you get free shipping on a purchase of $150+.

Wow, this totally doesn’t look like Tumi, if it is they really have gone down with not even putting Tumi2 on the lablel, or they other lines. This looks like a Briggs or Travelpro at best. Probably worth 150$ though, but 20″ is a little small. I prefer a 22″

it’s definitely not as good of quality as their Alpha line with the ballistic nylon. The Voyageur Avignon line is not ballistic nylon…just looks sleeker. That being said $150 is still a pretty good price, but you can get a better warranty on a competitor with equal or better quality for just a little bit more.

Hey Gary, so what brand/specific bag would you recommend since you think Tumi has gone downhill. I got in on this deal but if you have any better ideas I could always return it and order something different?
@HoKo I think at the $150 price point this will be a good bag, I just wouldn’t pay $500 for it. I like a Briggs & Riley bag, though really just when on sale around $250 and not at full price. In general I think the best value/price bag is probably Travelpro’s Crew series. But I’m not huge into investing serious dollars in my bags, I like a good bag, but it’s not a status thing for me.
Passed on this one, it was a bit smaller than the max carryon permitted by most airlines (22″ x 14″ x 9″) and I need those extra inches. Also did not look too good if you had to bring a suit – compare to TravelPro. And never saw detail on how tough i.e. ballistic rating which is key when you are occasionally forced to check them (this happens on carriers like Qantas and sometime Lufthansa which are overly restrictive on carry-ons, even when travelling in business class).
But please post the next time you see a sale-priced Briggs bag, they have a lot of fans.
