USA Today on Award Booking Services

I spoke with Laura Bly yesterday morning before heading to the airport, and today she’s written about my award booking service and about Lucky’s in her USA Today blog.

She wanted me to differentiate our services, explain how mine is different or better and candidly I told her I’d never say a negative thing about his and that I often recommend people to him when I happen to have a full plate of clients, in the midst of travel, and working on deadline for my real job. And I offer that recommendation wholeheartedly. Of course I think I’m pretty good at this as my happy clients attest..

In the piece the author is a bit hard on herself, she managed business class awards to South America on her preferred dates but didn’t realize that if she had used British Airways points instead of American miles she’d have used up less of her balance and been allowed a stopover, saving her some out of pocket cash for part of the trip. And while Lucky and I certainly are aware of these various bobs and weaves in the programs, I still think (and told her!) that she had done pretty well for herself, better than most. She doesn’t need my service, though I did offer a couple of suggestions on the phone about how she could make some changs to her itinerary to be closer to what she was ideally looking for (though it did involve her returning to Washington Dulles rather than National, something that I’m not much a fan of myself either).

  1. Thanks for the kind words, Gary. As it turned out, my persistent calls to AA reservations paid off and I got the later flight to DCA I was looking for after all 😉
