Amazon Discount Finder

I don’t know that this is new, but I hadn’t seen it before: a way to troll for discounts on Amazon, the Amazon Discount Finder.

You select the category of items and optionally specify keywords, and then select the range of percentage discounts off regular price you want. Amazon then returns search results of items that are within that range.

  1. Often list prices are set way too high, which inflates the discount amount. Also many items with large discounts don’t qualify for free shipping and are not sold by Amazon but by third party sellers.

A better way to find can’t miss deals at Amazon is the blended bargain sort at jangle.net.

  2. This would be a fabulous tool, if it only worked.

    I put in

    USA
    80-99% discount
    Books
    Sort by Bestselling
    Show only Amazon Prime items

it returned over 19,000,000 items and the FIRST thing back was THE APPEAL by John Grisham, marked down 45%. For their 3rd-party sellers the max discount was about 55%.

As pointed out above, tossing non-Amazon sellers into the Amazon Prime results is nonsensical and renders this option completely useless.

As a bookseller, if this tool gets fixed, I’d no doubt search for 90-99%+ off and buy stuff every single day.
