Availability of this fare is amazing.

Here’s a sample itinerary:

Key details of fare basis IRPM:

  • Non-refundable with a $200 change fee ($150 no show fee also)
  • Available through end of schedule with no day of week or minimum stay restrictions

As One Mile at a Time points out crediting these fares to Delta SkyMiles earns 200% of flown miles for both elite qualifying and redeemable miles, and also 40% of flown miles as elite qualifying dollars.

This is a 12,350 mile roundtrip. That means you’re earning nearly 25,000 elite qualifying and redeemable miles, and 4940 elite qualifying dollars — that’s nearly five times the cost of the paid ticket, who says mileage runs for elite status are dead?

  1. Just booked it for Oct 20th to Nov 3rd with 18 hour layover to see Mexico City. Seems too good to be real, and I’m waiting for the mistake fare cancelation email.

  2. Possibly niche, but it should also earn 150% flown miles with Copa. (Or 125% with Avianca or 200% with GOL.) Too bad the partnership with Alaska is ending…

  3. Darn went to Chile last year – great places to visit – Atacama desert – Patagonia (flew Sky airlines for cheap prices) and Easter Island. Got a good biz fare on LAN airlines – SCL-IPC.

  4. You would certainly need to get lie-flat seats with those ungodly departure times! Thanks, but no thanks.
