Earn Double Miles on British Airways Flights Through End of Year

British Airways Executive Club is offering double points on flights through the end of the year if your account is registered outside the USA, Canada, Mexico and South Africa (HT: Ziggy). Registration is required.

Usually US members get better promotions than those elsewhere in the world. BA is a global carrier and wants to exclude North America from their generosity. It’s interesting to see South Africa, where they have a large base of customers, excluded as well.

Key details:

  • Valid for your first 8 flight segments
  • For travel through December 31
  • Codeshares on joint venture partners American Airlines, Finnair and Iberia are eligible. Interestingly flights on Aer Lingus, which like BA and Iberia is owned by IAH, are not eligible.
  • Only for new bookings made after registration.

This last requirement is one of the things I hate most from loyalty programs. Loyal customers who buy tickets anyway aren’t valued. The program wants to cut its costs by only awarding extra miles to people who weren’t already buying regardless of the promo.

(HT: Josh G., no not that one.)
