There’s been a rush of Chinese airlines squatting on routes to the U.S., because historically China has only allowed one of the country’s airlines to fly a given international route. That may change, but in the meantime we have service like Xiamen Airlines Los Angeles – Xiamen.
And as you can imagine these flights don’t sell out. So there are occasionally fantastic fares, to see China or to connect beyond China. In this case you can fly most any time between the US and Australia for $2600 roundtrip in business class.
Flights are operated with Boeing 787 aircraft, and business class features reverse herringbone direct aisle access seats like EVA Air and Cathay Pacific.

Depending on the day you travel your connections will vary, for instance here’s a long layover on the outbound but a smooth connection on the return (visiting Xiamen may be something you want, and you can do 72 hour visa free transit in Xiamen when continuing on to another country).
Key details for fare I3MUS5:
- You can have free stopovers in China (Xiamen) up to 72 hours
- 3 month maximum stay
- $90 change fee before departure, $120 after departure
- Before departure tickets are refundable for $150
- Flights are available between now and end of schedule, including over peak Christmas and New Years periods
- Some segments may book into C rather than I inventory.
There’s a similarly-priced fare from Seattle, albeit double connecting.
There are some outstanding roundtrip business class fares to China as well on Xiamen albeit availability isn’t as good at peak times.
Xiamen Airlines is a SkyTeam member. If you credit the miles to Delta here’s your earning, depending on whether a given segment is booked into C or I inventory.
I don’t think I would credit to their own Egret Club because it sounds too much like Regret Club.
