On June 30 a reportedly drunk man was singing loudly on a Ryanair flight from Girona to London Luton.
A flight attendant told him that if he didn’t quiet down she’d call the police. The flight landed at 11 p.m. and indeed police were called.
What’s notable about the incident — and video only just became available — is that another passenger, a senior citizen, takes down the disruptive 22 year old while shouting “citizen’s arrest!” to cheers from other passengers.
He put the younger man in a chokehold while one of the airline’s staff warns him he could face consequences. Apparently based on news reports there were no known consequences.
Ryanair is grandstanding with this incident claiming its a reason why airports shouldn’t serve alcohol which just creates more demand for the alcohol they sell onboard (indeed Ryanair flight attendants even have quotas for onboard sales).

Just one drunk? I took a charter flight from Helsinki to Rhodes that was delayed 5 hours. Nothing like a planeload of Finns going on holiday with an extra 5 hours of drinks under their belts. I believe the first 3 were free as compensation for the delay.
That’s not a chokehold. A chokehold would CHOKE!
And will RyanAir ban him from flying or does he become VIP as they know they can sell him lots of booze!!!
And then the guy dies because of the choke hold applied and the old guy would be charged with murder. Stupid. You don’t get to physically lay hands on someone unless you are defending yourself or others. This guy is not law enforcement, so he should never have done that. In addition, the staff was telling him not to and he was ignoring their instruction.
But wannabe Sean Connery had a certain set of skills…you see.
