The Sheraton Atlanta Airport closed July 23. It was sold to the city and will be demolished as part of an airport expansion project.

Starting Thursday, and for two weeks, all the furniture inside will be tagged and priced to sell. The liquidation, run by Hotel Content Liquidators LLC, will unload all the furnishings first come, first served.

When a place becomes familiar it becomes an extension of you, and in a way an extension of your living room. There are hotels that I actually feel, deep inside. I’ve spent so much time there, they’re familiar to me, and they contain memories.

Many regular guests feel more at home in a hotel than they do when they’re not on the road. A decade ago I bought a W bed, before price increases and on sale and back when the beds from the W Hotel Store seemed of much higher quality. Truth is I think I like Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds better.
