I receive compensation for many links on this blog. You don’t have to use these links, but I am grateful to you if you do. American Express, Citibank, Chase, Capital One and other banks are advertising partners of this site. Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same).
The British Airways online shopping portal is offering 76 Avios per dollar spent with Match.com.
Since you earn points only on first-time subscriptions, you want the biggest purchase possible — 12 months for $197.88.
That’s 15,000 Avios at 1.32 cents apiece.
Now, I value British Airways points at 1.2 cents apiece and since I have no need for a match.com membership (and can’t really donate it to charity to reduce my cost basis either) I’m not a buyer at this price.
British Airways First Class
But I’d rather buy Avios at 1.3 cents than transfer them from a Chase Ultimate Rewards account, I definite value the signup bonus and points I earn from my Chase Sapphire Preferred Card at more than 1.3 cents apiece (I value them at 1.9 cents each). So a specific regular use for Avios would turn me into a buyer.
