HURRY: Grand Hyatt Santiago Suites Bookable at Regular Cash & Points Prices

The Grand Hyatt Santiago is offering suites as cash and points redemptions, for the price of a regular room. This is available throughout the year but this deal is unlikely to last long.

Since these rooms should be cancellable up until the day before arrival, it’s worth making speculative bookings if you might have a need for a room (suite) in Santiago, Chile at some point over the next year.

A Grand Suite comes up as a bookable room type when searching for cash and points awards at this property.

Oddly cash and points rates are displaying in Google Chrome without detail on the points portion of the rate. And trying to book the room errors out.

But the cash and points rate comes up fully using Internet Explorer as my browser.

It is indeed bookable with Internet Explorer:

Here the ‘Grand Suite King’ which is ~ 871 square feet.

What’s more, suites at this property get club lounge access.

The requisite Hyatt points can be transferred instantly from Chase Ultimate Rewards if needed.

This isn’t the most expensive room I’ve seen at a Hyatt, but it’s still a good deal for a suite considering that the cancellable rate on many of the nights I checked is over $300.

I wouldn’t make non-refundable travel plans around these hotel reservations. Instead I’d wait several days to make sure the hotel plans to fully honor the special deal they’re offering to fill rooms at a time when South America travel is down substantially.

  1. Couldn’t get this to work correctly with Chrome or IE on my Windows 7 work computer, nor with Safari on my iPad. Perhaps the dates I was needing didn’t have C&P availability… Oh well.

  2. Thanks, Gary! Going to Santiago for 3 nights in February. Booked a Grand Suite King.

  3. Wow! Thanks Gary. I already had 3 nites booked there in Dec with points. I called Hyatt and was able to get the King Suite for the cash plus points rate.

  4. @ MEOW – what other properties are also included? I spot-checked some and P+C worked normally.

  5. I was, coincidentally, checking out this hotel today for a possible ski trip next summer. I saw this but didn’t realize it was out of the ordinary, so didn’t book it. When I saw your post, i went in and booked two suites for 3 nights (6 individual bookings) for the 6 of us next June. I have no other arrangements made, so don’t really know if I will be able to use them, but worth a try. Regular price with tax is running nearly $500/night

  6. They called tonight to advise that they won’t honor my suite bookings, they would only allow them in regular rooms. When I advised that I would cancel the bookings, they agreed to give me back the points and give me the rooms for just the cash price. I kept them and will decide later if it is worthwhile to get a $312 hotel room for $76.

  7. No, this died not long after it was posted and they did not honor it anyway. I ended up getting the points from my points and cash booking back ad they gave me a regular room, then I ended up not needing the dates after all, so cancelled and got my points back again, so I used 36,000 points and got back 72,000.
