In a story posted to Facebook that’s been shared over 20,000 times, there was a medical emergency onboard Delta flight DL1772 from Atlanta to Phoenix.
An older gentleman began having what appeared to be heart problems, and he went unconscious.
…I listened to shock after shock from the AED machine and still no pulse. No one gave up.
…The crew of Delta Airlines were amazing. They acted in a fast and professional manner! Then all of a sudden, I observed a guy walking down the aisle. That guy was Tim Tebow.
Tim Tebow‘s not a doctor, but he is apparently a decent guy and famous enough that people care. And he sat with the family “as they cried on his shoulder” and prayed with those so inclined.
As the plane landed, the man’s pulse came back. Tebow accompanied the man’s wife to the hospital.
The story was posted to Facebook yesterday, but it’s not clear that it was yesterday’s flight.
Delta has confirmed the medical emergency but doesn’t comment on the names of passengers onboard a specific flight. Tebow hasn’t commented on the incident, however other contemporaneous social media accounts apparently place Tebow on the flight.

Go Gators! I’m not a religious person but It would be nice if we had more athletes like Tim Tebow. I hope the gentleman on the plane makes a full recovery.
So Tim Tebow stepped up how? Far as I can tell he he did was sit with family and prayed and let them cry on shoulder didn’t really do anything that extraordinary. I would have told him he sucks as a NFL quarter back and get back to ur seat u attention whore.

@Raul Tebow may not be able to cut it as an NFL QB, but he can still throw a pigskin a lot better than you. More importantly, he’s a far better human being than you will ever be, so there’s that.

@Amy/Raul – just drop it. A nice person did a nice thing for someone, why try to demean the service? While most of us would stay seated and pity the sick person and family he actually had the gumption to stand up and go console them. And it sounds he didn’t try to insert himself anywhere he wasn’t helpful, but sometimes knowing that even a stranger cares about you can make a lot of difference.
The first action taken when a pax is in medical distress on a plane is lay them down and elevate their feet.
Making sure the passenger is placed in the correct position should be the responsibility of the crew unless there is a doctor or medical professional on board who advises them otherwise. It appears that Tim Tebow was providing support to the family not directing the medical response. There was nowhere that I read that he interfered with the response to the passenger. As long as the family appreciated the support and he didn’t interfere with the crews responsibilities kudos to him for being willing to provide it. Amy/Raul seem like bitter sports fans.

I’ll take medical professionals over , ” I observed people praying and lifting this man up to the Lord in a way that I’ve never seen before. ” AND, ” I watched Tim pray with the entire section of the plane for this man. He made a stand for God in a difficult situation.”

I was thinking we could get rid of our budget deficit and Medicare/ medicaid if we just relied on people like Tim Tebow. No medical training necessary. Enter as often as you like.

Speaking of “idiocy”, nobody commenting here is advocating prayer and comfort in lieu of medical treatment. Of course that gets in the way of a good anti-Christian rant.
@losingtrader… you are too busy thinking of only yourself and not the family who was comforted during a difficult inflight medical situation. Even though I am not religious and wouldn’t necessarily do the same thing it’s about the family and what made a difference to them. If his intentions were good and the family appreciated his actions why be critical? If he hurt or offended someone that would be different but it sure doesn’t appear that way.
