Buy Hilton HHonors Points 80% Bonus

Through April 1 Hilton is offering a bonus of 80% on purchased points.

Hilton usually charges a penny apiece for points, so with this bonus is selling points for a little over half a cent each. That’s not the absolute cheapest I’ve ever seen (back in June they offered a 100% bonus). Here they’re selling points for just a little over what they’re worth.

Hilton will let you buy up to 80,000 points per year, plus bonuses. The pricing here amounts to $0.0055555 per point. I value Hilton points at $0.004, since I can pretty much always get half a cent in value at least from Hilton points and I have a preference for holding cash.

Conrad New York

You can really stretch Hilton points for their lower-tier redemptions. A category 1 property is 5000 points, with 5th night free for elites, so a 5 night stay averages 4000 points per night or ~$22. (There aren’t many of these in the U.S…)

You won’t get bonus points for paying for purchased Hilton HHonors points with a Hilton co-brand credit card, as the purchase is processed by points.com rather than Hilton.

I’m close to a buyer of Hilton points at half a cent apiece, and it will probably be even more attractive to all the folks that matched status to Hilton Diamond late in the year.

  1. 140K is about half of the number of points that one needs in order to afford 5 nights at Conrad Koh Samui (better picture this time, BTW)…if you are at least HH Silver because all the elites get every 5th award night free. This is a great value because you would pay close to $1000/night or more depending on the time of the year to stay there on revenue. I stayed there over XMas 2015 for 5 nights on points (only way I can afford it!) and, at 95K HH/night, I would have needed (95K * 5) = 475K HH points. However, I got the 5th night free (20% off) so I needed “only” 475k – 95K = 380K.

It is truly an “aspirational” redemption…
