The window for booking Virgin America first class isn’t particular long. I’m actually tempted to try it, because I’ve still never flown them and my impression is that their domestic first class seats are better than those of legacy carriers.

  1. VA First Class between DCA and LAX/SFO is much, much better than United. From JFK to the west coast it is good, but the seats are not lie flat as United, American, and Delta are. Flight attendants are normally much better.

  2. Unfortunately anyone with an existing reservation is SOL if you want to buy up on your existing flights. Unlike UA you cannot purchase online and the telephone CSR told me that I would have to cancel my old ticket, pay a change fee of $100pp, and then purchase the new discounted ticket. As if anyone is that stupid. I am informed this is consistent with past practice. So much for rewarding loyal customers who are ready to provide additional revenue.
