Giveaway: London 3-Bedroom Apartment Stay Plus Incredible Deals on Chartering a Yacht, and a Week in a Greek Villa

Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains.

They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 3 night stay in a 3-bedroom luxury apartment in Knightsbridge, London for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.

Folks who already know about these auctions won’t like the added attention, because frankly there aren’t enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go too cheap.

Here are some great auction values ending soon:

Check out the full details on each before bidding to make sure availability matches when you can travel. There’s page after page of auctions to scroll through, generally nice places that regularly appear to be selling for much less than they should.

Prize: a three-night stay in a luxury apartment in Knightsbridge, London at The Ovington Elegance – subject to availability, stay by April 28 (excluding December 25-27, December 31-January, and March 25-26).

The Ovington Elegance is a superb, luxury Three Bedroom Three Bathroom serviced apartments right on Brompton Road in the heart of London’s Knightsbridge. Two minutes’ walk from Harrod’s store and other exclusive shopping in the immediate area and with easy access to Knightsbridge and South Kensington tube stations, The Ovington Elegance has all of the luxury features and comfort you need for your central London stay backed up by London Lifestyle Apartment’s hospitality and care to ensure that you fully enjoy your visit to London.

London, like Paris, is one of those cities where a residential apartment is a great option for visitors. I tend to book hotels because I have so many points, but coming out of pocket living like a local can be uniquely appealing. This property looks lovely and in a great location — and while not cheap it’s a real value for three bedrooms!

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge over other hotels in London. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Thursday, December 3 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment. I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away an apartment stay in London. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

  1. Hard to nail down one auction as a favorite, but I think it would be a nice change of pace to try two nights in a tent in Moab.

  2. A 3 bedroom place right in London would be amazing as it would be fun to travel there with the whole family (we have several kids) and be able to stretch out.

  3. I’d choose to stay at the Ovington Elegance for its proximity to the great museums of London!

  4. I would stay at the Knightsbridge apartment over a hotel because of how cozy the apartment would feel. Thanks for the great blog!

  5. The private yacht charter in the Caribbean would be our auction choice!

While we could theoretically redeem transferable currencies at just $.01/point for such an experience…that’s no fun. 🙂

  6. Would love to stay at the Knightsbridge apartment and relive some of the days, this time with my wife, when I studied not far from there in SouthKen while in college.

    ✌️

  7. I’m a huge fan of London and usually rent a flat right in the middle of SoHo. It would be a great opportunity to try staying some where different like The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge. I love that area but tend to find that we don’t go there often and stay in the SoH ghetto. Time to start branching out.

  8. Wow, Id like the 7 nights for 8 guests at Villa Russelia in Rhodes, Greece. What an awesome way to get my widely scattered nuclear family together for an awesome week of sun and fun.

  9. I would definitely love to stay in London at the flat. I have always stayed at a hotel in the West End and taken the tube to Knightsbridge so this would be a nice change!

  10. Prefer the stay in Rhodes. I was there when I was a poor student and stayed in a hostel so staying in a luxury hotel would be a wonderful upgrade!

  11. My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary: 7 nights for 8 guests at Villa Russelia in Rhodes, Greece.

  12. I would choose to stay at The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge over other hotels in London because of its location and luxury.

  13. @Gary, good point you make about staying in an apartment–“flat”–instead of a hotel in London. For those of us who don’t have a gazillion points the apartment may well be the wisest choice.

I’m going for the Moab Safari Tent experience–it looks really cool!

  14. Also very interested in the Mallorca villa – I haven’t been to Spain since 2008 and would love to go back!

  15. My favorite item on Luxury Travel Diary is the Villa Boi rental in Mallorca Spain. Looks amazing! And for 10 people, awesome!

  16. I’d choose the Ovington because it is spacious and in a great location to get around London and you don’t have to deal with the crowds in the touristy areas like Picadilly.

  17. This apartment looks great. I’ve reserved multiple hotel rooms for spring in London. This would be so much more fun with family.

  18. My favorite auctions are the 3 berm ones in and around London as they meet the needs of my upcoming family travel.

  19. Staying at an apartment is a great way to see London with a family of 5. Hotels just don’t give you that comfort.

  20. 7 nights in Rhodes sounds pretty sweet to me. ” 4-bedroom Villa in Russelia” works well for a family.

  21. The Ovington Elegance luxury apartment in Knightsbridge is in a great neighborhood that I couldn’t otherwise afford so I’d love to stay there.

  22. My wife and I would love to vacation at the Villa in Mallorca. We’ve never been to Spain and it’s been on our bucket list for years. Plus, every New Year’s Day it’s our family tradition to prepare a fabulous meal of tapas.

  23. Current favorite: ACANTO BOUTIQUE HOTEL, PLAYA DEL CARMEN. Mainly because it’s near a beach of a country I haven’t visited yet and it looked like there was a hot tub overlooking the ocean.

  24. Reason why I would stay at the Ovington Elegance: being so close to a variety of museums that I would want to visit as well as a comfortable place for me just to curl up and read a book.

  25. We would choose the Ovington Elegance in Knightsbridge because my wife always prefers a more custom, boutique experience to a larger hotel, even a luxury one. We’ve done the fancy hotel in London and now the Ovington Elegance would be perfect.

  26. The villa in Rhodes looks fantastic. Rhodes is one of the most beautiful places I have been in the world.
