200 Free Hilton Points (and Up to 10,000 Bonus Points)

The only real value I’ve ever gotten from ‘ThanksAgain’ is earning miles at brick and mortar retailers when I didn’t expect it.

When they first began they had a ton of dry cleaners in their portfolio. More recently they’ve focused on signing up the majority of merchants at several airports. Pay with your registered credit card, accumulate points for the purchase.

You can set up different accounts, and link different credit cards to each. I’ve also used ThanksAgain in the past to earn ‘partner credit’ in airline promotions rewarding transactions with a certain number of partners.

I would never choose to earn Hilton HHonors points via ThanksAgain, the normal earning rate of 2 points per dollar doesn’t make up for the low value of a single HHonors point.

However through December 31 they’re offering 200 Hilton HHonors points just for signing up and 10,000 bonus points after $1,000 or more in spend during the quarter.

  1. I have the same question as Rick. Will the 200 points automatically transfer to Hilton? Doesn’t seem like there’s a way to request a transfer.

And, after the points transfer, can I change my rewards partner? Would love to switch to United or AA.

  2. @Rick – I started one account last November for a 200 point bonus, and still have 200 points. I can’t find anything on the web site about how to redeem or transfer points to any of the rewards programs listed.

  3. I find that this is an easy way to keep accounts active. No it is not very many points, but a few Hilton points here and there usually from buying items at airports keeps the account active especially since I have backed off of the number of Hilton stays.

  4. According to their FAQ, “Generally, your account will be credited within 6-8 weeks of your purchase.”

  5. @Gary sez: “I would never choose to earn Hilton HHonors points via ThanksAgain, the normal earning rate of 2 points per dollar doesn’t make up for the low value of a single HHonors point. ”

You have a good blog here but please stop writing about the “value” of loyalty points because it is clear you have no clue what you are talking since you insist on comparing loyalty points across program as if all such currencies were interchangeable!

  6. I don’t pay much attention to who posts comments, but as soon as I see someone vehemently defend Hilton (even after swearing he was done), I know it’s ole’ DCS!

BTW, I checked offer and it said “through 9/30/15. ???
