United’s CFO is Out: Now Paypal Users Will Be Seen as “Over-Entitled”

John Rainey has resigned as United’s CFO to take a similar position at Paypal.

This is the man who declared United’s most frequent customers to be ‘over-entitled’.

Ridding the airline of someone who blames customers for its problems isn’t likely to help matters, though, as United still has a CEO that hates its customers.

No doubt Paypal can expect Changes You’re Gonna Like.

  1. Unlike the airline industry, the mobile payment field is intensely competitive and does not have a high barrier to entry. If he brings the United approach to PayPal, one imagines it will hemorrhage customers.

  2. I’ve had the “pleasure” of going up against PayPal in Court after they ignored a writ of execution served by the Santa Clara County Sheriff in their corporate HQ in San Jose. They played dirty and acted completely without ethics. (I still won my client’s battle because I’m a tough SOB). Rainey will fit in there perfectly.

  3. i dont get it, what is United’s problem? They reqlly hate their customers and do every thing they can to make it worse.
But it seems like North American airlines in general are getting worse every year when it comes to their frequent flyer program for which they don’t value customers loyalty to an airline anymore. Every European *A airline is much better than UA and don’t get me even started about DL SkyMiles “you pay as many miles as the revenue ticket”

  4. He was bad enough, but it’s really the CEO who needs to go. I cannot stand to see his face on every “safety” announcement on every flight. He lies through his teeth. That’s when he isn’t whining about Gulf carriers. He gives a bad name to Princeton & Harvard.
