750 Free United Miles!

Everyone was chattering about this a week ago and I didn’t write about it, because in the past I’ve seen Mypoints offers where the points simply don’t post.

But now that One Mile at a Time confirms that points are already posting (!) rather than even taking the promised six to eight weeks this just seems too good not to pass along.

You get 750 United miles just for signing up for Mypoints, the online shopping portal.

If you make a purchase of $25 or more at an online retailer through the shopping portal within 30 days you get another 1000 United miles on top.

In order to activate your account you’ll receive an email that you need to click on to verify your e-address. Many report that those emails go to spam, especially when giving a gmail address. So check your spam folder.

That’s great, actually, because if that happens them you probably won’t even be inundated with marketing messages for signing up. If you are, you can cancel your Mypoints membership after receiving the miles and at least 30 days have passed.

I’d definitely consider 30 days of spam worth 750 miles, since most spammers don’t give me anything in exchange for making me hit the delete key.

Key offer terms:

Earn 750 MileagePlus miles for registering and activating your MyPoints account, and enjoying your membership for 30 days. Earn an additional 1,000 MileagePlus bonus award miles when you make one or more qualifying purchase(s) totaling $25 in your first 30 days of membership. Exclusions apply. Check your Inbox for details on completing your registration as well as other great offers from MyPoints.com, Inc.

…All shopping and travel purchases (excluding Amazon.com, games and the MyPoints Store gift cards) of at least $25 each (excluding taxes, shipping & handling and special processing fees) made through the MyPoints.com website and emails (including BonusMail®) are eligible toward this promotion. This offer is eligible for new members only, and purchases must be made within the first 30 days of membership to receive the bonus reward. Any purchase returned or exchanged will be subtracted from the qualifying purchase minimum. Participation is subject to the MyPoints Terms of Service.

If nothing else, this will extend out expiration of United miles 18 months…

  1. I can confirm that it posted in 3 days for me. This was definitely worth it as it pushed my mileage expiration date out substantially (it’s been a long time since I’ve flown United).

  2. Just tried this myself and got an “error: unable to locate your account” after the registration page. Is it dead?

  3. They do indeed spam the bejesus out of you; I use my throwaway account for it. I very occasionally do a MyPoints deal, because it takes 6100 of their points to buy 2500 United miles. However, if you don’t mind buying miles very cheaply, they have offers like “spend at least $4.99 on a token package at GSN.com (Game Show Network), get 5700 points”. I had a few hundred points languishing from signing up and doing my $25 purchase last time they had the United miles deal, so for a few bucks and spinning the wheel on a mindless game, I got 2500 miles. Just an idea 🙂

  4. Mypoints is not an honest company. You should let people know that they often do not pay people the points they earn. Do not trust mypoints. You will waste lots of time and they will send you spam forever. It’s just a way for them to get email addresses and sell them.

  5. @Anna I think I said that I held back on even mentioning this offer because I thought there was a reasonable chance points wouldn’t post, but since they’re posting it’s worth grabbing the signup points.

  6. Don’t forget to go into your account settings after you’ve signed up and OPT OUT of the numerous emails it automatically enrolls you in.

  7. I signed up, and I don’t see anywhere I can enter my mileage plus number for them to be able to post the miles to my account. Any idea where to find this?

    Thanks.

  8. I followed the link to join, but I don’t see anywhere to put in my United number. How can this work if they don’t have my number?

  9. Thanks- perfect timing to extend expiration on partner’s inactive acct. Credited within 1-2 days.

  10. as of 7/30/2015 the link does not work. It does not bring you to the united page but to the regular sign in
