  • Trend? Hotel owners going to court to oust brands in order to become independent (HT: @AmbroseGui)

  • Delta Privilege merging into Marriott Rewards on June 18. Meanwhile, Marriott Rewards has updated its terms and conditions:

Delta Hotels and Resorts – all locations will fully participate in Marriott Rewards in early 2016.

    • Members will receive recognition benefits during their stays at Delta Hotels and Resorts until early 2016. For more information on these benefits please click here. Members will not earn Points, Miles* or Elite night credits for stays until early 2016. Members will not be able to redeem Points toward free stays at Delta Hotels and Resorts until early 2016.
    • For more information on the participation of Delta Hotels and Resorts in the Marriott Rewards program prior to early 2016, *including the ability to earn Aeroplan miles for qualifying stays during the transition period, please see the FAQs.

  • “The World’s 10 Most Expensive Hotels” It’s amazing that there are several I wouldn’t want to stay at, and only two on my list of places I’ve sort of wanted to visit (one, at least, lets you redeem an obscene number of points for). The most salient point, I think, is that ‘most expensive’ isn’t inherently related to ‘best’ which of course is a much more subjective idea.

  • Texas weather was really bad in May, and American was forced to divert 287 DFW flights. Here’s where they went.

  1. I love Map Happy’s article! Well written, some great points, and you are certainly an interesting person to profile.

  2. Gary, these links for Hyatt Diamond Challenge seem outdated. Are they? What is the current offering?

Also, what. Is the real Marriott change?

  3. I was doing a lot of Canadian travel about 5 years ago and stayed in Delta hotels a bunch. I especially liked Montreal and Victoria, BC. Hopefully Mariott doesn’t ruin the brand.

  4. What’s with Sardinia and Sicily and these expensive hotels? Goes against the grain. Cote d’Azur I can see but some of these others? Seriously? The room in the one in Maui looks like a bad Marriott.
