The Target REDcard Song

It takes a certain kind, the sort of folks who refer to the Target – American Express product REDcard as ‘Redbird’, to really appreciate this.

Does your area Target sell REDcard? Have you been using it? Are you worried they’ll stop allowing funds to be loaded at the register with a credit card?

  1. That doesn’t worry me – what worries me is the possibility of getting stuck with a ton of Amex Gift Cards purchased with credit cards. A TON!

  2. Hey Gary,

Not sure if this is the proper spot for me to write about my complaint with SIXT car rental. But, here goes and I’ve also given them one more chance to do the right thing.

So very disappointed in SIXT customer service. Forgetting that I had pre-paid for fuel, I returned the car full of gas. Upon return, I waited in line at the SIXT counter to ask for a refund on the fuel. There were a few people in line and the wait was too long. So I sent in an e-mail and asked for a fuel refund. They requested a copy of my fuel receipt, so I was hopeful they would do the good thing and give me my money back. They sent an e-mail denying my refund request and suggested I should understand they are making a decision based on sound business practices. If that’s the case, and they do not reverse themselves, I will have to make a sound decision based on my business practices not to do businesses with companies who do not allow for human error. I get that my business is not that important to them, but it’s a shame when they make it so apparent.

  3. Are there any previously Amex issued debit cards that would caused a denial of a Amex RedCard. Since I had a Bluebird card, Amex nicked my request for a Serve card. Given the ‘right’ university is within two blocks, I did secure a Campus Edition card. The Bluebird CSR was clueless and I don’t to waste a trip to Target picking up a RedCard.

  4. Unless you also saw it independently, as far as the MS blogosphere its concerned, I’d like to take credit for discovering this on Twitter and posting it on Reddit and Flyertalk (also tweeted it) 😀

The same day (2/25) REDcard had some hiccups on their POS system at Taret stores about loading it with a credit card; it would give the regular long receipt showing the load, but before that it would spill a short one saying it couldn’t process, and some similar symptoms. I personally stumbled on it (as many others before me) and saw online that a credit card charge went to Redbird then got reversed. The local Target service desk said they were expecting the issue fixed in a matter of hours.

  5. @Gary, upon a closer Twitt-technical examination, my tweet about this (https://twitter.com/NoonRadar/status/570665419289133057) was posted a few minutes after Just Travel News one (https://twitter.com/justtravelnews/status/570664505463705600), though I didn’t see it from them and I don’t recall if I first tweeted it or posted it on Reddit.

Its all entirely trivial of course…After claiming the credit, I was merely curious to do a quick Twitter search to see if anyone else from the MS side of the internet had posted it before me, which it seems so.

  6. Also experienced reloads not working on the 25th; the cashier showed me the reload error message and said activations were not working either. Has anyone tried doing a reload today?

  7. Best thing since sliced bread. As long as it continues through the summer as it is now I’ll have over half a milion miles.
