HOLY SMOKES That New Turkish Flight Is Giving Away Business Class Award Space

Last night I wrote that business class award space on the new Turkish San Francisco flight was wide open.

And even so, at the time I wrote the post I didn’t even realize just how wide open it was.

I showed that there were at least 4 business class seats available on every flight that Turkish would run on the route in April.

They’ll begin San Francisco – Istanbul service April 13, 2015 — initially 5 days weekly.

Here’s what availability looks like on those flights for seven business class seats:

In other words, every single flight they’ve loaded has at least 7 business class seats available during that first month in which they’re operating.

Remember, this is a business class cabin aboard the Boeing 777-300ER that only has 28 business class seats. This will not last. Book those Star Alliance awards to Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Africa now.

  1. Glad I nailed my two Business Class award seats IAH-IST using MileagePlus before the cost jumped by 40K. Sometimes the FAs miss the mark in ‘hospitality’ but everything else about Turkish Airlines is top drawer. I sleep most of the flight and the lay-flats are excellent.

  2. seatguru shows two 777 configs. One is 1-2-1 biz with F, the other is 2-3-2 biz , no F. Which is are they using for SFO?

  3. I believe the one with F is leased from Jet Airways and mostly flies to Asia. US based are 2-3-2, but only 4 rows deep.

  4. Believe those planes have been returned to JET and aren’t flying any TK routes since one can’t book F on any routes with TK. It used to be an extra luxe service but only temporary while the 777 fleet was built up. (TG used the same planes for a while with the same F cabins.)

  5. Seatguru still shows the Jet Airways 777 but Turkish no longer has those. Ignore any Turkish aircraft showing a first class, business is the top cabin they offer.

  6. So are there good links to Europe from IST?

Could be a long way to get to Europe.

  7. phantom!!! i just transferred in 315k for tix after verifying space with agent. now agent claims tk hasn’t actually released space yet. argh

  8. Yup. Same experience with Aeroplan, though I only got burned for a 90k transfer. I have an award on hold with United, but I don’t think I’m going to transfer any miles until there are some reports of successful bookings.

  9. I don’t see these flights via United’s award booking engine; has anyone successfully booked with UA?
