  1. @Michael actually 67,500 miles from the US to the Maldives using AA miles, and you cannot fly via the Pacific so Cathay is out if you want to do it as a single one-way award (American will not let you transit Asia enroute to the “Indian Subcontinent”). But you can do 67.5k miles, fly Etihad via Abu Dhabi with great availability albeit with a forced overnight enroute.

  2. Gary, do you know if it’s wiser to wait until next year to exercise the Milepoint Hilton Gold option? Would a mid-year exercise take you fully through 2015 as Gold? (I currently have Gold status via the CC, but plan to cancel.) Thanks.

  3. Wouldn’t an April redemption of Milepoint HH Gold be effective for the remainder of 2014 and then all of 2015? Or just the partial 2014 status?

  4. The headline and summary of the Third Circuit TSA/FBI decision is not accurate. The FBI and TSA agents were sued in the individual capacity. Form the case “Qualified immunity shields government officials from *personal* liability for civil damages….” In other words, the Court said you cannot sue the individual officers are take their personal money, house, car, retirement, etc, in cases like this. The case didn’t say much of anything about suing the TSA and FBI (i.e., the U.S. Government) for damages.

  5. Gary, I know a fine, reputable gentlemen who has been working on his own Liberia mission (water well pumps), and maybe could collaborate with Alex P ? I forwarded him Alex’s fundraising link, but thought that a connection via VFTW would be most fitting. I can email you his info if that works for you & Alex ?
