PointsHound Stackable Miles Bonus for Hotel Booking This Week

Rocketmiles is offering two stackable promotions that will let you earn 5000 bonus Virgin America points through July 15, 7000 if you are a Virgin America elite, on top of the usual miles earned for hotel bookings.

PointsHound, which has hotels that you can still earn elite status and receive status recognition with, is also offering stackable bonuses this week.

  • Normally being referred to PointsHound by an existing member get you 250 bonus miles with your first booking and the referrer gets 250 miles as well. I’ve arranged that folks signing up through my link will receive the full 500 mile bonus in their choice of participating programs. (You also get additional mileage earnng signing up through this link as you get a 60 day trial of ‘level 2’ points earning which is ~ 50% over the base level.)

  • This week — though Sunday, June 30 — you earn a one-time 500 mile/point booking bonus in addition to the regular PointsHound earning. This offer is open to existing members as well as folks making first-time bookings.

First time users signing up for PointsHound can earn 1000 bonus miles on their first booking on top of regular mileage earning this week. And existing customers get the extra 500 mile bonus one time this week as well on bookings made this week.

(Note that I do not receive the signup bonus for referring people to these sites, the usual referral bonus has been arranged to go straight to you instead.)

Update: I understood the bonus was available once per person. In fact it is once “per trip” which they define as any destination within a 7 day time frame. So it’s possible to earn the bonus more than once — but not possible to make back-to-back single night bookings to maximize bonuses.

  1. Gary, the email I received from PointsHound did not indicate this was a one-time 500 mile bonus:

“Book with PointsHound through the end of June, and earn an additional 500 [my preferred earning partner] Miles per trip!”

Indeed, when I made multiple bookings, the 500 mile bonus showed up at the check-out screen each time.

  2. I was specifically told by one of PointsHound’s founders over the weekend that it was one bonus per user. Following up to see what’s going on.

  3. If making a hotel booking through a cash back site, I can usually get 9% of the room rate as a cashback. So do I understand correctly that I would be swapping this cash back for some extra points through PointsHound? If yes, it is a question of which do I prefer more – cold hard cash or some lousy points of dubious value?
