Up to 5000 United Miles for Purchasing Marriott Gift Cards

You can earn up to 5000 United miles for buying Marriott gift cards through November 26.

Two $400 gift cards and a $250 gift card will earn the maximum allowable 5000 United miles per member account during the promotion period.

As I explained in “Quadruple and Quintuple Dipping with Marriott” you can choose to earn Southwest Rapid Rewards points for Marriott gift card purchases instead.

Then make your Marriott reservations through your favorite shopping portal, like the Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall. Earn points for the stay and the credit card spend. And also earn a credit in Marriott’s free night MegaBonus promotion.

MegaBonus and the gift card components of all of this offer-stacking are the limited-time components.

  1. My question is the same as Michael, Would giftcards charge as a Marriott transaction for the current 5x Freedom bonus?

  2. Actually, per Gary’s earlier post, these purchases DO count for the Freedom 5x bonus.

Can this be combined with the AMT and PRIDE codes which add 10% to any Marriott gift card purchase?

I did a purchase earlier this week using my Freedom card through TopCashBack. Plus there’s a MyLinkables offer for 5% back on Marriot spending up to $1000.

Combining all these you could get an $1100 gift card for a maximum of $858 (including s/h) – a 22% savings. And this doesn’t include the MegaBonus and any portal rewards on the actual hotel reservations.

  3. @Andy F. gc purchases qualify for MyLinkables -$50/$1000 spend – I just got the e-mail, although the credit has yet to post to my Freedom.

  4. Any similar promotions for other hotel loyalty programs such as SPG, Hyatt, Hilton, Carlson or IHG for example, or even Accor or Wyndham?

  5. Any discount promo codes that could be combined with this promotion on the back-end, again not just with Marriott, but with any of the major hotel loyalty programs?

  6. I can second Jimmy@TrevelByPoints data point that Marriott gift card purchase (for Southwest points) earned 5x on Freedom on statement just closed.
